 FAQ

Pantomime is an ideal introduction to live theatre for families.  So if this is your first time to a theatre or you haven't visited The Venue before, the following Frequently Asked Question (FAQs) may be helpful.

Your name says you are an Operatic Society; will there be much Opera in it?

None at all. When we were formed 55 years ago that was the type of music we performed.  Today, Pantomime is packed with modern ballads and classic party music that the whole family will know and enjoy!  Recent shows have included music from Abba, Hairspray, Village People, Queen, The Jacksons, Grease etc

When should I book?

As soon as possible!  Tickets will be sold on the door if they are available but our shows are popular and many sell out weeks in advance.  We recommend you ring our box office right away on 01908 972 372.  It has an answer phone facility so please leave a message and we will call you back!

Is there parking nearby?

Yes, there is free parking at The Venue.  It can sometimes be difficult to park if there are other events being held, we recommend arriving 30 minutes before the show begins to allow for this.

What do I wear?

Anything you like, there is no dress code.  Some families like to make a special occasion of things and often children will come in fancy dress.

Can I take photos?

No photos, videos or recording of any kind is allowed during the show, it is against copyright law.  The Principle Cast members will be in the theatre foyer as you leave and will happily pose for photos for you there.

Is it suitable for younger children?

We consider our pantomimes to be suitable for youngsters of three years and over. There will be occasional flashes, bangs and effects that may be a little intense for younger ones but once they are aware that shouting and clapping along is all part of the fun, they are usually fine.

Where is the best view?

All seats at The Venue are on a slope, so there are excellent views everywhere. Our Box Office staff will do their best to accommodate any requests.

How long is the show?

Its about one hour or less per half, with a twenty minute interval in between.

Is there wheelchair access?

There are limited wheelchair facilities that can be booked in advance.  Entrance may be via a flight of stairs but ground floor access is available to those who would prefer it, please contact our Front Of House staff on arrival.
